Who we are

Hack Dearborn: Conjure Reality is a free, in-person student hackathon held on October 3 to 4, 2026, at the University Center, University of Michigan-Dearborn. It is run by students of the Google Developer Group on Campus at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and it is a Major League Hacking (MLH) member event for the 2027 season.

This page explains what we collect through this website and the Hack Dearborn app, and what we do with it. For anything about your data, write to info@hackdearborn.org.

What the application form collects

When you apply, we ask for what we need to review your application, plan food and shirts, reach you, and keep you safe at the event:

• Your first and last name, mailing address, country of residence, age and phone number.
• Your university email address. The form asks for a school address and does not accept others.
• Your school (or the name of your institute if it is not listed, which is optional), graduation year, major and level of study.
• How many hackathons you have attended, and why you want to attend this one.
• Optional: a resume file, a portfolio link and a LinkedIn link.
• Dietary restrictions, with an optional box for allergies and other details.
• Demographic answers: whether you identify as part of an underrepresented group in the technology industry, your gender, your pronouns, and your race or ethnicity. Gender, pronouns, and race or ethnicity each offer a “Prefer not to say” choice.
• Your t-shirt size.
• The name and phone number of an emergency contact.
• Your answers to the agreements at the end of the form: the MLH Code of Conduct, the MLH data sharing authorization, whether MLH may email you, and the participant agreement.

Where it goes

• Your answers are written to a Google Sheets workbook owned by the organisers’ Google account, through a Google Apps Script endpoint.
• If you upload a resume, the file is stored in that same account’s Google Drive.
• A confirmation email is sent to you from info@hackdearborn.org.
• The website is hosted on Vercel.
• The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that the visitor is a real browser.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. It uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which count page views and measure performance without cookies and without identifying visitors.

The Hack Dearborn app

Accounts for the Hack Dearborn mobile app are stored in Supabase. There are two ways to sign in: a one-time code sent to your email, or Google sign-in.

If you choose Google sign-in, Hack Dearborn receives only the email address, name and profile picture of your Google account. We use them solely to match you against the registration list and sign you in. Nothing is posted to your Google account, and no other Google data is read.

Who sees your data

• The organising team, and nobody else on our side.
• Sponsors receive only what you choose to share with them.
• We never sell your data.

Major League Hacking

Because Hack Dearborn is an MLH member event, the form asks you to authorize us to share your registration information with Major League Hacking for event administration, ranking and MLH administration, in line with the MLH Privacy Policy. As the form says, this can include the creation of linked accounts on MLH and DEV (dev.to).

You also agree to the MLH Code of Conduct and the MLH Contest Terms and Conditions. Whether MLH and DEV may send you occasional emails is your choice: the form asks, and you can answer no.

How long we keep it, and your choices

We keep your data for up to one year after the event, so the organisers can close out prizes, report to MLH and plan for next year. After that it is deleted.

You can ask for your data to be corrected or deleted sooner, at any time. Email info@hackdearborn.org from the address you applied with, so we know the request is yours.

Delete your account

To delete your Hack Dearborn app account, email info@hackdearborn.org from the address you signed in with and ask us to delete your account. You do not need to give a reason.

• We delete your app account and everything tied to it: your sign-in, your name and profile picture, and your activity in the app.
• If you ask, we also delete the application you sent through this website.
• We do this within 30 days and reply to confirm once it is done.
• Information already shared with Major League Hacking is held by MLH under its own policy. You can ask MLH to remove it through the MLH Privacy Policy.

Changes and contact

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. The rules for taking part are on the Terms page. Questions go to info@hackdearborn.org.
